Fred Hollows
I just wanted to thank you for the chance to read and review one of your books, Fred Hollows, because I enjoyed it and thought it was great. I think that the book was really good. It was easy to read and very interesting. I learned a lot about Sandy Blight/Trachoma and the trouble it caused throughout Australia and many other countries. I also learned about Fred Hollows and the wonderful things he did to help people with eye diseases and to try to give the Aboriginal people of Australia a fair medical service. I enjoyed the book very much; some of the pictures along with some of the comments were very funny. At first I found the book a little bit difficult but as I read more I really got into it. I would recommend it to my friends for a good read or even for projects and information. You have done a great job Allan Drummond and I look forward to reading more of your books. Annabelle Lindsay

This book is about how John Curtin becomes Prime Minister. First in the book they tell yuo about how John was an alcoholic and how his engaged wife dies. Then they tell you how John gets a seat in the Labor party and then he gets kicked off and in another half a year he gets another seat and eventually becomes leader of the Labor party and then Prime Minister. I dont know how he became Prime Minister with an eye that always looks at the sealing, a drinking problem and has been in jail.

This book is very interesting it explains infomation that I wouldn't have guessed about one of previous prime ministers John Curtin. I enjoyed the way it was written explaining the words I didn't understand like referendum and how it was written in a way that it was asking you what you thought about certain points in the book. To conclude my review I feel this is a very well written book and easy to read.

I thought this book was great! It is really interesting and very inspiring. This book encourages me to help people who need it and make a difference in the world. I hadn't even heard of Aung San Suu Kyi until my teacher chose me to do this review. I know I will never forget her for what she did for her country. The reason for this is that I could make sense of what was written, it wasn't all just text that I couldn't understand. I like how Allan has explained what unusual words mean and how to pronounce them. the pictures were nice and simple. I love everything about this book. I highly recommend it to people who like to read biographies or are doing a report on the inspirational Aung San Suu Kyi.

Amy Johnson has Arrived

Number 4 in the Big Lives Series is Amy Johnson who flew in recently. Amy was the young English pilot who, after gaining her pilot's licence and a mechanic's certificate, decided to fly to Australia. The year was 1930. She hoped to break Aussie Bert Hinkler's record for the trip. She and her little Gipsy Moth certainly had some adventures together on the way out.
