Flynn of the Inland was a people's man. Some of us see or hear of a new invention and wonder “How could I make some money out of that?” When John Flynn heard of a new invention he asked himself “How could that help the people I work with?” So when, in the early years of the nineteenth century, he was riding camels through the Outback to bring help to remote communities, he was dreaming of roads and cars. When he was digging his car out of a boggy road, he was dreaming of aeroplanes. And when aeroplanes were adapted for regular use, he was dreaming about radio communication which would connect the people of the Outback to a Flying Doctor Service.
There were those back then who wrote him off as a dreamer. But he's on the twenty dollar note, and they're not!
