Henry Parkes was more widely known at the end of 2001 than at the start of the year. Of course, that was because we celebrated our centenary of Federation this year. It would be a shame if he, and Federation, were pushed to the back of some dusty shelf for the next one hundred years of Nationhood. But then, Henry pops up on every five dollar note, so he is hard to ignore!

Henry Parkes is an extremely good talker, but handles money worse than my grandad! HP suites the 5 cent piece. I enjoyed the downs and even further downs of his life. His life seems very difficult, with 17 children and three marriages, two only broken by death of the wife.
I loved the hidden jokes.

Dear Allan
Lots of people who have read your book have not really understanded how Henry could've married 3 wives and have 17 children but the story is quite intresting and exciting to read.

Hello Allan I read the book and I think that Henry Parkes was an okay guy but he was also the type of guy that wastes money a lot and probably didn't care. I hope you know what I mean . How do you know all these books are facts and not lies. What happened to the seventeen children?
